Types of Rocks

Rocks have three types. Which are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic.

Igneous

Igneous rocks are made when magma cools down. There are intrusive and extrusive igneous rocks. Intrusive rock are rocks that cool down inside the earth. Extrusive rocks are created if a volcano erupts and the lava cools down.

Sedimentary

Sedimentary rocks are rocks when sediment which are made of minerals, organic matter, and other stuff are compressed together. This types of rocks could be found on the bottom of bodies of water. Sediments that build up in the bottom of a body of water compress each other. Sedimentary rocks take a very long time to create.

Metamorphic

Metamorphic rocks are created when either sedimentary or igneous rock are compressed and heated up. Like sedimentary rocks metamorphic rocks also take a very long time to create.
