Bartolomeu Dias and Vasco de Gama

The Vast Ocean In ancient times people thought different of the ocean. During these times they thought of boiling waters and man-eating sea monsters that were enough to terrify curios explorers. To top it all off they still thought the earth was flat so they thought they could fall off earth! Why do they need to explore the ocean? Well it's to find a new trade route from the west to the east. For 12 years this people have been trying to go around Africa but the fear of being burned alive in the equator has kept sailors from getting to their destination. Two explorers however were brave enough to sail the mysterious seas. Bartolomeu Dias and the Cape of Good Hope Bartolomeu Dias from Portugal was assigned in the 15th expedition. He passed the place where sailors returned back in fear. He didn't see any sea monsters and whirlpools nor did the equator burn them alive. A big storm however tossed them around and they landed on the southern tip of Africa. Dias wanted to keep go...

The War of the Roses

The Rivalry The battle between the House of Lancaster  and the House of York was a long war that lasted from 1455 to 1485. The ruling groups fought over the crown of England. It was called the war of the Roses because the House of Lancaster uses a red rose in their coat of arms, while the House of York uses a white rose in their royal emblem. 1455; The Start of the War During this time the House of Lancaster is reigning England. Henry VI was crowned king during this time. Henry VI suffered from catatonic schizophrenia. The House of York saw an opportunity to their weak king and attacked. The Battle of St. Albans happened with the House of York gaining victory over the House of Lancaster. Although the House of York didn't get their duke crowned as king they still gave him a rather high position; the "Lord Protector". He had lots of power and technically replaced the king when he's having an episode from his mental illness. Queen Margaret revolted because she wa...

Fungi

Fungi, from the mushrooms you eat to yeast on your bread. Fungi can be really deadly but they are also really helpful. Let's understand about fungi. Fungi have mycelium which is in charge of extracellular digestion. Each strand of mycelium could be called hyphae. Hyphae could reproduce sexually which I will be telling about later. Fungi could cause diseases such as athlete's foot and be poisonus. Fungi can be deadly if you inhale their spores or if you eat a poisonus species of fungi. Fungi can reproduce both sexually and asexually, either way makes spores. Fungi could reproduce asexally using a process called budding. Parts of hyphae could grow into new fungi. Sexual reproduction in fungi is differnt in other organisms. If  hyphae are near each other the could reproduce sexually. Fungi are decomposer which means they eat deceased organisms. They release toxins that break down the food, so that the nutrients will be released. This is really helpful as without fungi ther...

City of Nineveh

Located at the Ancient Assyrian city, capital of the Neo - Assyrian Empire, is a city called Nineveh. Nineveh is a big city one of the few having prehistoric items such as statues and paintings.  Nineveh home to the Assyrians famous for there wiked acts, cruel torture and their King (King  Sennacherib). These people have a like of myths and other olktale creatures that dosen't exist, they also have a belief on gods and would like worshippng statues. What makes these people hateful of anger and vengence is of there cruel methods of punishing others byt torture. The Assyrians torture is none like other they especially love flaying peoples skin alive. No wonder most of there enemies Babylonians, Medes and Sythians have a gruge and hatred for them. Later on they were conquered by the Babylonians as the walls collapsed and dissolved from thier castle wall.

Classification of Stars

There are billions and billions of stars in our universe, we can't even count them. Classifying stars is a really helpful when identifying stars. Spectral Letters Spectral letters identify the tempreature of stars. M being the coolest stars and O being the hottest stars. Our sun's tempreatue is 10,000 degrees farenheit. Which means our star is a type G star. Below is a table for the spectral letters. Absolute and Apparent Magnitude Another way to classify stars is through it's brightness. Absolute magnitude is the brightness of a star the lower the number the brighter the star is. Although the sun might look very bright it is only because we're so close to it. The sun's magnitude is 5. Apparent magnitude on the other hand is how bright it is in the sky. H-R Diagram The Hertzsprung-Russel Diagram or H-R diagram is a graph of both the spectral letters and absolute magnitude. below is an H-R Diagram Source:Wikipedia

Federalism vs Unitary

Federalism vs Unitary Federations and unitary states are different types of states. What's the difference? Federations Federations have federalism which is obvious enough. So what happens in federalism. It is when the central nor the regional governments are supreme. The central government has control of some laws and the regional government is in control some other laws. One example of a federalism state is America. Unitary  Unitary states are much different from federations. Instead of the regional and the central government having the same power the central government is supreme. The central government does most of the laws while the regional governments only does few laws.

Robin Hood

Robin hood is remembered as that one archer who steals from the rich to give to the poor. Although people think he is a fictional character there is proof that he really exists. In england a tombstone says: Here underneath this little stone Lies Robert, Earl of Huntingdon Ne'er archer was as he so good And people call him Robin Hood Such outlaws as he and his men Will england never see again.                        1247 There are lots of information we get from this tombstone. For example it states that his real name isis Robert and was nicknamed Robin Hood. It also says he was a good archer and was an outlaw. Although stories suggest him stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, we don't have proof if he really does.

Electromagnetism

Electricity could create magnetism, this is called electromagnetism. Electromagnets can be created by wrapping a wire around an iron nail and connecting it to a battery. If you do decide to do this you might want to wear gloves because the battery could get very hot. Electromagnets function stick to metal just like normal magnets. You could also change how strong an electro magnet attracts by using more voltage.  You could also do the opposite and generate electricity through magnets, this is called electromagnetic induction.  Electro magnets are very useful in our daily lives. Electromagnets are used in a lot of electrical devices. Electric motors and generators both use electromagnets to do convert energy. Another example is a school bell. When electricity goes to the school bell the thing that hits the bell is attracted by an electromagnet to hit the bell.

Buoyancy

Buoyancy is the tendency for something to float. When something is on water it displaces an amount of water. Have you ever tried throwing a rock in water. If you did you most definitely know that it's will sink. However if you try putting a paper boat on water it floats. How come? Well, if you check how much the water displaced weighs and how much the paper boat weighs you would see they're almost equal. Which determines why the paper boat floats. If you weigh a rock though and how much the water displaced weighs, you would see the rock weighs more.

My New Guitar

Yesterday I had a hard time sleeping. I would occasionally wake up in the middle of the night. For what reason? Since my dad bought me a guitar that I could see tomorrow (which is today). My mom and dad thought I needed a guitar upgrade. The new guitar was shiny and cool. My dad said that I should take care of my new guitar (unlike the previous ones). It even has a guitar strap with spongebob designs... Nevertheless I like this new guitar, I planing on learning how to do "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. I might even teach my little brother a song in my old guitar. I have to perform with my guitar in a wedding a few days from now. I feel a little embarrassed performing with a guitar on a spongebob strap though, but at least I'm not a triangle player.

after the bike accident...

Previously... I was thrown off my bike. Then I remember my bike on the ground with pain in my shoulder, knees, and face. When I attempted that bike stunt I sort of felt like a fool. That bike accident was probably the worst accident I've experienced. I was left with wounds on my nose, knee, and shoulder. The wounds on my nose sort of looks bad. I even attempted to peel of the wounds on my nose, despite those warnings that I will look worst. I guess I just felt ashamed that most of my wounds in my face are on my nose. If my mom sees this blog she'll probably give me a long talk on why I shouldn't fell ashamed, and I wrote this sentence so that when she does look at this blog she'll laugh instead and spare me. The wound on my shoulder is a little uncomfortable. When I put it on water it feels like I'm on fire. It hurts when I stretch it. Today I feel much more comfortable. I could stretch it but not too much. I'm okay with the wound on my knee. I do...

How Twins are Born

Twins are people born at the same time. There are two types of twins-fraternal and identical. They are  made in different ways. Fraternal Twins Usually people like to think of twins to be looking the same, but fraternal twins unlike identical twins doesn't look the same. Two eggs are fertilized by different sperm. Identical twins are made in a different way. Identical Twins Identical twins happen when a sperm fertilizes the egg and the egg splits into two. Since the twins came from the same egg and fertilized by the same sperm they have same DNA making them look the same. In some cases triplets, quadruplets, and even quintiplets are born.

the bike accident...

Last Saturday morning I was riding my bike with a friend. I was trying a new bike stunt my friend showed me. When I tried it, I got thrown off my bike then I face-planted into the concrete. Everybody suddenly got terrified. I could tell my friend was scared since he ran back to his home. I felt like everybody was acting like I am a baby. Didn't break any bones, but when I face-planted into the ground all the wounds in my face except one were on my nose. The wounds on my nose sort of make my face look a little weird. I also have a wound on my knee that I don't care about that much. Then the skin in my shoulder got scraped which really hurts. When water touched the wound on my shoulder it felt like I was being injected by a thousand needles. I wish my wound on my nose would heal faster since me and my family are attending a wedding this week.

Inertia

Inertia is the tendency to do nothing or stay still. Inertia is not a force unlike friction. According to the first law of motion. Something in uniform motion will stay moving and something that isn't moving will stay UNLESS a force moves or stops it. Inertia is like the tendency to stay still or to resist forces. When you place a book on the ground it stays, of course it does. Since the first law of motion says an object will stay still unless acted upon by a force. The book has a tendency to stay still. If you put a force on it, you know what happens. To review inertia is the tendency of an object to stay still.

Bioaccumulation

Bioaccumulation is when harmful substances accumulate in an ecosystem. This could be really be dangerous. An example of one of this harmful substances are pesticides. When an organism absorbs one of this harmful substances it could accumulate in it. Once another organism eats the organism that absorbed the harmful substance let's say a pig. WE might eat the pig that got the harmful substance and give it to us. It could seriously make us unhealthy. Using less pesticides would help the environment.

Greenhouse Effect

Greenhouse effect helps keep our planet from being very cold. How does it do this? The greenhouse effect is caused by greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide. Some sunlight is absorbed by the sun. Some is reflected back to space. Some sunlight that is reflected is caught by greenhouse gasses which helps warm the earth. Having the right amount of greenhouse gasses is important. Because having too many will warm the earth too much. While less greenhouse gasses means earth is getting warmed less.

What's In your fast food meat

Fast food restaurants have been using antibiotics to help make animals healthier. However this really bad as it could harm us. Like make our body resist antibiotics. CNN asks 25 fast food restaurants what is inside their food meat. Here are the results. A being the one that feeds antibiotics to animals less and F feeding more antibiotics to the animals. A: Chipotle, Panera Bread B: Chick-fil-a, Subway, KFC, Taco Bell C: Wendy's, McDonald's D: Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Dunkin Donuts, Jack in the box, Papa John's Pizza, Burger King F: Visit the link: http://edition.cnn.com/2017/09/27/health/fast-food-antibiotics-grades/index.html

Types of Rocks

Rocks have three types. Which are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous Igneous rocks are made when magma cools down. There are intrusive and extrusive igneous rocks. Intrusive rock are rocks that cool down inside the earth. Extrusive rocks are created if a volcano erupts and the lava cools down.  Sedimentary Sedimentary rocks are rocks when sediment which are made of minerals, organic matter, and other stuff are compressed together. This types of rocks could be found on the bottom of bodies of water. Sediments that build up in the bottom of a body of water compress each other. Sedimentary rocks take a very long time to create. Metamorphic Metamorphic rocks are created when either sedimentary or igneous rock are compressed and heated up. Like sedimentary rocks metamorphic rocks also take a very long time to create.

Digestive System

The digestive system is an important system. It is the system that keeps you from not starving. Mouth The mouth is where it all starts. When you eat, saliva and teeth help break down food. It then goes to the esophagus then to the stomach. Stomach It helps digest food. Breaking it down and mixing it even more. After being further broken down it goes to the small intestine. Liver and Pancrease This organs will release enzymes to the small intestine. Small Intestine The small intestine is a large tube. It absorbs digested food. Waste goes to the large intestine. Large Intestine The large intestine is a tube like the small intestine. The large intestine releases waste through the anus as feces.

Arthropoda and Annelids

Arthropoda and annelids are types of invertebretes. As you may already know invertebrates are animals without spines. Annelid Annelids are known as segmented worms. Some examples of annelids are earthworms and leeches. They can help make soil more fertile. They can reproduce asexually and sexually. Arthropod Arthropods are insects. They have exoskeletons which is a skeleton on the outside. Some examples are crabs and beetles. Most arthropods lay eggs.
